Operations & Plans
What we do
The Operations and Plans directorate is responsible for coordinating routine and specialised operations of the RSS, including maritime, land and humanitarian and disaster response operations. It is the cell that manages the coordinated deployment of resources in support of operations when the RSS response mechanism is activated. The directorate has lead responsibility in ensuring the RSS Response mechanism continues to evolve and remains germane to the sub-regional security requirements. Since the RSS inception, the Operations and Plans directorate has effectively coordinated or supported many security and HADR operations within and without the RSS, under the RSS response mechanism.
To support the routine and specialised operations of the RSS, the Operations and Plans directorate has at its disposal the RSS Air Wing and Maritime Departments. These departments support coordinated security coverage of the RSS maritime and land domains. The directorate continues to ensure security operations architectures evolve in response to the changing nature of the RSS security environment, and lends support to national authorities involved in various security operations.
